Study in Bayreuth? Of course!

The University of Bayreuth offers a wide range of degree programmes in the humanities, natural sciences and engineering. Whether you are interested in art and culture, business or natural sciences, you are sure to find the right degree programme here. The University of Bayreuth is also characterised by its interdisciplinary orientation, i.e. students have the opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of their own subject area and network with other disciplines. This not only promotes broad knowledge, but also interdisciplinary cooperation, which is becoming increasingly important in today's working world.

Whether you are studying, researching or working at our university - almost everyone agrees on one thing: you immediately feel at home on our informal campus.

With around 12,500 students, the University of Bayreuth is a pleasant size and a place where you can make contacts very quickly. Teaching staff and students also know each other, which guarantees you the best possible personal support. And thanks to the short distances from one faculty to another, from the lecture theatre to the canteen etc., you can quickly reach all the necessary contact points.

City of culture | a place for music lovers

The world-famous festival city offers students, researchers and employees a lively arts and cultural programme as well as a wide range of cultural events and activities. In addition to the festival, there are concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year. The city is known for its lively cultural scene, which presents both local and international artists. The opportunity to explore and experience these cultural treasures is an enrichment for anyone interested in art, history, culture and music.

You will also have the opportunity to get involved musically on campus – in the university choir, the university big band and much more. See for yourself!

There are many green spaces and parks in Bayreuth that invite you to relax and unwind. The proximity to nature enables outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, or water sports in the surrounding area, e.g. in Franconian Switzerland. You can clear your head with a walk around the nearby Röhrensee lake or a visit to the neighbouring Botanical Garden. The municipal Hofgarten and the parks in the Bayreuth Hermitage also offer you outstanding opportunities for local recreation.

You live and study where others go on holiday. Isn't that a dream?

Food & drink | a place for gourmets

The Bayreuth region offers you a high quality of life. The city is manageable and not only guarantees a pleasant atmosphere for studying, but also offers a wide range of catering options. And all on a budget!

The region’s unique beer culture and vast array of beers available, the local cuisine, and the traditional bakers and butchers in the Upper Franconia region are just some of the advantages that you will enjoy.

Bayreuth is not only a city of culture, but also a passionate sports city. In addition to the wide range of leisure activities in the surrounding area such as climbing, hiking, mountain biking and much more, there is an extensive sports club landscape in which you can actively participate. The university's own university sports programme also offers you good opportunities to get actively involved. We also practise university health management with the "Healthy University" working group, which has set itself the goal of facilitating healthy living, working and studying at the University of Bayreuth.

Sustainability | A place for idealists

Sustainability is firmly anchored in our university philosophy. We live it in all areas across economic, ecological and social issues and take responsibility. We were one of the first universities in Germany to develop our own sustainability strategy years ago. We have also been a Fairtrade University for years.

Are you also a fan of green thinking? Then you can get involved in various projects on our Green Campus.
