Orientation week

The orientation week prepares you interculturally for studying in Bayreuth, explains the infrastructure and procedures of the university, and imparts important regional knowledge about Germany. It is therefore a central element of the first few weeks in Bayreuth to ensure that your studies abroad are successful and positive. Participation in this week is compulsory for all international students.

Buddy programme

Are you new to Bayreuth? If so, sign up for our Buddy Programme. This programme brings together new and old students at the University of Bayreuth so that the first weeks of your studies and at your new place of residence are successful. Intercultural contacts and new friendships are made right from the start.

Welcome Portal of the City of Bayreuth

If you are new to Bayreuth, we and the City of Bayreuth will be happy to support you free of charge with any questions you may have about living, studying, or working here. There is a special Service Point where you can get personal advice on site. You can find more information and the address of the Service Point here:

Getting to know the student councils

The student councils also offer new students a wide range of events to help them get to know each other. These range from a welcome event, campus tours, joint pub crawls and city rallies to first semester weekends and buddy programmes. This ensures that making new contacts is a piece of cake.

Finding a (virtual) connection

As a digital alternative for social campus life, some of our students have set up a Discord server for informal exchanges and making new contacts. Digital events such as games evenings, discussion groups, and other digitized campus culture are offered. University initiatives can also be reached via this channel. The offer is free and voluntary; a download is not necessary.

New citizen meetings in Bayreuth

Or simply visit the New Citizen Meetings: These monthly meetings help you to quickly get in touch with others and exchange ideas. You will get to know the city through changing locations. The meetings take place in restaurants, museums or other facilities. Each meeting has a different theme.

Want to get involved?

The university group Enactus Bayreuth e.V. has opened the Instagram account @hochschulgruppen_bayreuth, where many university groups introduce themselves. Take a look, find out about the various university initiatives, and be inspired by the diversity at the University of Bayreuth!

Student Parliament (StuPa)

As an internationally active university, we in Bayreuth are constantly working to improve the conditions for everyone on campus. That's why we attach great importance to students being actively involved in the opinion-forming and decision-making process. Perhaps you would also like to get involved in the student parliament or work on one of the faculty committees.
